The Australian was in an extremely positive mood after completing his first two days of riding on the RC212V, setting the best time on day two.
Casey Stoner’s Honda debut sent out a clear message to his rivals as the Australian set the best time of the second day at the Official MotoGP Test at Valencia. The 25 year-old then expressed his all-round satisfaction with the RC212V despite his adaptation to the machine still being in its early stages.
Stoner worked on a range of different electronics and chassis variations, tested some new parts and also Bridgestone tyres in a busy day two, completing 62 laps and setting the best time of 1’32.066, which was an improvement of over seven-tenths of a second on his previous day’s effort.
When asked about the transition from the Ducati – which he rode for four years – to the Honda, Stoner replied: “It wasn’t the most comfortable move for sure! It’s like going from any bike to another, it does feel very strange. But this morning it immediately felt more comfortable having had the first day, so we were able to work in a better way than yesterday. Today we were able to move forward and hopefully in the right direction.”
Outlining the standout highlights of his new machine Stoner continued: “How smooth the engine is. Whatever we do with the throttle transfers to the rear and I’m able to exit the corners so smoothly. Also the chassis is very smooth and we’re able to get on the gas really hard out of corners. Even when it slides it’s very minimal and this is a nice change for me.” Source: www.MotoGP.com
